10 days from the Ortler to the Brenta - quiet paths and spectacular landscapes

Quiet paths, magnificent landscapes, Italian flair, culinary highlights and the ascent of a 3,000-metre peak await you on this hike. We hike through one of the largest nature parks in Europe, the Stilfserjoch Nature Park, and on the first half of our tour we always have King Ortler (3,905 m) in view with magnificent views of various glaciers. We are on our way along lonely paths, past beautiful mountain lakes, which also provide a chance to cool off. Once we reach the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, the landscape changes. We have left the glaciers behind us and a barren and rugged rocky landscape now dominates our view.
The nature is breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes you even get a bit of a Norwegian feeling in the middle of the Alps. A crossing peppered with many highlights.

Day 2: From Sulden to the Tabaretta hut
We start our tour directly on foot from Sulden, initially in the shade through a beautiful Swiss stone pine and larch forest, until the forest thins out and reveals a wonderful view of Sulden and the mountains of the Stelvio National Park. We follow a first-class panoramic trail up to the Tabaretta hut (2,556 m). Once at the hut
we take a short break and lighten our rucksacks before making a detour up to the Julius-Payer hut (3,029 m). On the way up to the hut, we can enjoy impressive views of King Ortler and his north face.
After our lunch stop, we take the same route back to the Tabaretta hut, where we spend the night well acclimatized.

Day 3: From the Tabaretta hut to the Hintergrath hut
Today we start at a more leisurely pace and hike back along the trail to the fork in the road leading up from Sulden. We leave this on the left and hike on to the mountain station of the Langenstein cable car. From here we make a detour to the
Marlt Madonna (2,752 m). We take the same route back to the K2 hut, where we stop for refreshments. After a leisurely rest, we continue along the Morosiniweg trail, slightly ascending through the moraines of the End-of-the-World-Ferners to the Hintergrathütte (2,661 m). Here you have the opportunity to cool off in the Hintergratsee lake, which is right next to the hut. We can also reach a beautiful viewing platform via an unmarked path within a few minutes' walk and enjoy a wonderful view from here as far as the Reschensee lake. The hut does not offer half board, so we eat à la carte and this is not included in the tour price.
↑ 800 m, ↓ 700 m, 10 km, walking time: approx. 4:30 h, meals: B

Day 4: Via the glacier trail to the Zufallhütte
A long but fantastic day lies ahead of us: if conditions and the weather permit, we will start our third day of hiking with a highlight. We leave the hut in a westerly direction and follow the glacier path to the Schaubachhütte (closed). The glacier trail leads over moraine debris below Monte Zebru and Königspitze. We cross small streams and the ice comes out in places. At first we walk on grey Ortler dolomite before the rock color changes to yellow, green and brown. Once we reach the Schaubachhütte, we can expect a certain amount of hustle and bustle, as it is easily accessible by cable car. However, we hike on to the Madritschhütte (2,818 m) where we stop for a bite to eat. After our rest, the next highlight awaits: the Hintere Schöntaufspitze, a 3,000 m peak. We hike up to the Madritschjoch and from here it is another 200 meters to the summit of the Hintere Schöntaufspitze (3,325 m). We enjoy the panoramic view before embarking on the long descent through the Madritschtal valley to the Zufallhütte (2,265 m). Now we are out of the hustle and bustle again and it is slowly getting more lonely. When we arrive at the hut, we are already looking forward to the hospitality of our host Uli and his team.

Day 5: Over the Sallentjoch to the Rifugio Dorigoni
After breakfast, we first descend a little to a short suspension bridge that leads over a charming gorge. This is followed by several viewing platforms with wonderful views down into the Plima gorge, which we visit depending on the weather. We continue our hike through an enchanting forest. The trail slowly climbs again and the landscape becomes much wilder. The ascent to the Sallentjoch (2,965 m) becomes steeper again and we walk over interesting boulder terrain. At the top of the pass, we leave the Hintere Martelltal valley and take a last look back at King Ortler and his imposing massif. Now we descend to the Rifugio Dorigoni (2,437 m). A small but very nice, typically Italian hut with a very friendly landlady. In the afternoon, we have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Sterna Lake - approx. 170 m above the hut - and enjoy the time until dinner.

With lake: ↑ 1,070 m, ↓ 870 m, 11.5 km, walking time: approx. 5:45 h, meals: B, D

Day 6: To the Höchsterhütte via the Schwärzerjoch
Today we take it a little easier, weather permitting. We hike up to the Schwärzerjoch (2,820 m) and from here we make a short detour to an inconspicuous peak, the Gleckspitz (2,957 m). We enjoy our
summit rest with the panoramic view before we make our way back to the Schwärzerjoch. We now leave this in a north-easterly direction to the hut, which is the only hut in the Ulten Valley and lies on the shores of the emerald-colored Grünsee. The
afternoon invites you to relax in a fantastic setting.
↑ 750 m, ↓ 620 m, 11 km, walking time: approx. 5:00 h, meals: B, D

Day 7: On familiar paths into the Rabbi valley
We head back along a familiar path to where we came from. However, we keep to the fork towards Kirchbergjoch (2,749 m) instead of Schwärzerjoch, and thus explore new paths again. Now we continue steadily downhill to just above the Haselgruber Hütte, where we enjoy our lunch break. Before that, however, we make a short detour to the lakes above the hut, if we have time. After our lunch break, we start our descent towards the Rabbital valley with renewed energy. We are picked up at a mountain hut and driven to our accommodation in the Rabbi valley. There is a lovely Kneipp facility near the guesthouse where we can relax our tired legs in the afternoon. In the evening, we go to a nearby bar for dinner
(not included in the tour price, so everyone can feast to their heart's content).
↑ 400 m, ↓ 1,130 m, 11 km, walking time: approx. 4:30 h, meals: B

Day 8: From Rabbital to Rifugio Orso Bruno
Today we have a long but spectacular day ahead of us, which we shorten with a short cab ride to the starting point. Once in Val Valorz, we first follow the forest road through a lush forest. The forest road soon turns into a hiking trail and we pass the first converted mountain pasture and the forest slowly thins out. We follow the hiking trail further up and as we pass several lakes, some of which leave us in awe of the breathtaking landscape, we wind our way up to Passo Valletta (2,694 m). As we have to keep an eye on the time today, we probably won't have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in one of the lakes. Shortly below of the pass we take a well-deserved lunch break and enjoy the beautiful view before descending on the other side of the pass. A second transfer takes us to the Cabinovia Daolasa, which takes us up to the mountain station. From here it's another 25 - 30 minutes up to the Rifugio Orso Bruno.
↑ 1,480 m, ↓ 920 m, 13 km, walking time: approx. 7:00 h, meals: B, D

Day 9: On the way in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park to the Rifugio Lago Nambino
After a leisurely breakfast, we set off on a gentle up and down past some lakes in a beautiful landscape up to the Passo del Tre Laghi (2,380 m). We follow the path a little further up before we have mastered the last ascent of this fantastic tour. Now it's all downhill past Lago Seredoli with impressive views of the rock walls of the Brenta Group. We continue along the hiking trail through a forest and finally reach the shores of Lago Nambino, where we spend the night in the rifugio of the same name. We spend the afternoon relaxing by the lake and in the evening we indulge in culinary delights and look back on the great impressions and experiences of the last few days.
↑ 600 m, ↓ 980 m, 10 km, walking time: approx. 5:00 h, meals: B, D

Day 10: Descent, return journey and individual journey home
After the last breakfast together, we descend easily to Madonna di Campiglio, where a cab awaits us and takes us back to Sulden. Those who have traveled by train can also depart directly from here. The transfer is not included in the included in the tour price and will be asked before the trip who would like to travel back.
